This afternoon I made a batch of bacon, cheddar, chive scones. I really enjoyed the lightness of the inside that counterbalanced the crunchy outside.
I have to laugh because when I was making these scones I kept thinking about how little butter is in them. My mom (aka my partner in crime and sous chef) then pointed out that making scones isn’t like making all butter pie dough and you are supposed to use less butter. I guess I have been making lots of pie dough?
While I have made scones before and this recipe isn’t necessarily new to me, I really enjoyed making these treats and thought it was worth sharing. I hope you’ll get a chance to experiment and enjoy the yummy flavors.
Recipe: Savory Scones
I used this recipe for the base but instead of using goat cheese, I mixed in chopped up cheddar cheese and about 5 pieces of chopped bacon along with the chives.
