Historically, I have been known to be a major slacker when it comes to Mother’s Day. But after starting this website and seeing what other bakers had posted for the holiday I was determined to make an extravagant breakfast. I drafted a plan, told my brother and Dad how they could help, and most importantly made a menu!
The main item was strawberry cinnamon rolls topped with strawberry frosting and fresh strawberries. I really enjoyed the unique flavor of this treat and was told many times by my brother that the frosting was really good. Really really good. However, the rolls were made out of bread flour and I think that it caused the dough to have a slightly nutty flavor and hid some of the strawberry flavor. The instructions were also a little vague since they came from an Instagram reel, leading me to forget how to proof dough so I don’t think the rolls got as poofy as they could have. If I were to make them again I think I would try using AP flour instead but all in all, they turned out pretty well!
The second thing I made was frittata muffins. These were my favorite things I served because I loved the fluffiness of the eggs and the veggie filling. They were easy to make and I was also able to do some prep work for this recipe in advance which was helpful. I also just adore egg bites so maybe I am biased.
To conclude, my Mother’s Day breakfast making was a success and I accomplished my goal. Hopefully I can come up with something equally as fun for next year and continue to find fun ways to celebrate.
